What is eye damage?

Tin damage is damage to the body of the car, such as a dent in the bumper. Puncture damage is often caused by a collision with another road driver or by accidentally driving into something, such as a pole. Therefore, the most common form of can damage is dent damage. Puncture damage is often confused with paint damage, but paint damage is damage to the car's coating. If you crash into a pole, you can have both eye damage and paint damage.

What to do in an accident with damage to the vehicle?

Exactly what you need to do in case of damage to your eyes depends on the type of accident. We distinguish between damage to the eye caused by a unilateral accident and damage to the eye caused by a bilateral accident. Damage caused by a unilateral accident does not involve other people, for example when you have driven into a bollard. In this case, you do not have to wait at the scene of the accident. If you yourself are otherwise uninjured and the car is still running normally, you can drive home in peace. If you want to claim the damage from your insurer, you must submit a fully completed claim form.

Is it a two-way accident, such as a collision? If so, always fill out a claim form together with the other party. Also take photos of the damage to both cars and note the details of any witnesses. This helps to settle the damage quickly. Next, contact your insurance company. You can have the can damage repaired at a repair shop affiliated with the insurer.

Blast damage to car: what about the insurance?

The moment you have cosmetic damage to your car, chances are you will have to have it fixed. Repairs to a car often add up quickly. Of course, you then wonder about insurance. Is damage to your car covered by your car insurance? This depends on your car insurance coverage and whether you are liable for the damage. When you are not responsible for the damage, the insurance company will try to recover the damage from the other party. If you caused the damage yourself, you are liable. In this case it depends on how you are insured. Do you have a car insurance with only third-party coverage? Then the costs of the car due to glancing damage are for your own account. This is because third-party insurance only covers the damage you cause to the other party.

With limited liability insurance, you are insured for such things as windshield damage, damage caused by burglary and vandalism. If you cause a collision yourself, then the damage to your car is also not insured with this coverage. With All-risk coverage, almost all damages are covered, even if you caused them yourself. Of course, some exceptions apply here as well, for example if alcohol or drugs are involved.

Does collision damage affect your claim-free years?

If you are insured for eye damage, this does affect your claim-free years. Regardless of the amount of the cost, you will fall back in claim-free years if you claim the (collision) damage. So it doesn't matter how big the damage amount is. This means that you will pay more for your insurance premium. So you may wonder whether it is wise to claim a small amount of eye damage with the insurance company.

Driving on after eye damage: what are the consequences?

Under the Road Traffic Act, it is an offence to continue to drive after a collision. This applies not only to physical injury, but also to damage to property, such as cosmetic damage. If someone drives on after a collision, they have 12 hours in which to report to the police. Failure to do so is considered a criminal offence. A maximum fine of €6700 or 3 months imprisonment may be imposed. In addition, a driving disqualification of up to 5 years can be imposed. However, these are the maximum penalties. In practice, these are imposed very seldom, but driving on after a vehicle with cosmetic damage can still have serious consequences.

Imagine this: you park your car in a parking lot and then go to run an errand. When you return a little later, there is a big dent in your car. Blast damage to car

Glare damage to your car is, of course, incredibly annoying. Collision damage can be caused, for example, by making an error in judgment while parking, or by being involved in an accident with another road user. For insurance purposes, it is important who caused the damage. In the case of unilateral damage, where no other road users are involved, you can simply continue driving and fill out the claim form yourself and send it to the intermediary or insurer. In the case of a bilateral damage, you and the other party fill out the claim form together.

Tin plate damage costs

If you caused the eye damage yourself, it will only be reimbursed if you have an all-risk car insurance policy. A WA or WA limited casco car insurance does not cover damage you cause yourself. Do check if it pays to claim the damage. This goes at the expense of your premium discount and claim free years. Sometimes it is cheaper to pay for the damage yourself. Was the damage caused by someone else? Then you can recover the damage from the other party.
